What is the Conference Ambassador Programme?

The Conference Ambassador Programme is a major economic driver for Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster attracting more National and International conferences to South Yorkshire and ensuring our region gets the profile it deserves on the worldwide stage.

How does it work?

Working with local professionals in business and academia, we can learn more about events you attend or speak at; you can then help us to submit bids to host them in South Yorkshire in the future rather than further afield.

What type of person are we looking for?

We recruit Ambassadors who:

• Are leaders in their field
• Are passionate about Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley or Doncaster

• Are members of professional bodies, associations or institutions,
• Think.. “wouldn’t it be great if this conference was in my home town, showcasing what we do?” 
• Would like to organise their own event

Why recruit Ambassadors?

A passionate and well connected ambassador can often influence a decision on where a future event is held. We want to harness your passion for showcasing what you do well.

We will give you the confidence to say to your professional body “why not host an event in South Yorkshire?” as well as the knowledge and support to deliver a successful event.

Our success is your success. Hosting an event will raise your profile, the profile of your specialist subject area and your standing within it, as well as boosting the image of your organisation and your town or city.

How much of my time will I have to give?

YOU decide how much or how little you wish to be involved in the whole process- and when. Each event is different. It can be as simple as sharing a contact or writing a letter of support or you can lead from the front.

Does it cost anything to join?

It doesn’t cost anything to join however winning a bid can be a great economic driver to the region and brings massive profile to everyone involved.
